Hello! We’re Megan and Christopher. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us and our family.

We met each other while working together during college. While just friends for some time, our relationship began to grow into something more as we shared a common faith and a love of theology, education, ministry, and coffee. Chris took a bit longer to warm up to the idea of dating, but less than a year after dating we were engaged. Four months later, in 2013, we were married.

In 2013, we had our first daughter, Annette, followed by our two sons, Abraham and Castiel. We also spent several years as licensed foster parents, caring for a number of other children in our home. After a few years of fostering, we also began our private adoption journey. In the midst of fostering and beginning our adoption journey, Megan also became pregnant. We sadly lost our son, Darcy, who was born sleeping in May of 2021. We then got pregnant again unexpectedly a few weeks later with our rainbow baby girl, Liesl, who was also born sleeping in September 2021. We did close the door on fostering, but we have continued pursuing private adoption.

Our greatest priority is our faith. We seek to love God and love others well and instill this in the hearts of our children. Our faith impacts every aspect of our family life, from our parenting style to our daily rhythms, and we look forward to welcoming another little one into this house full of love, joy, and faith.

Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.

FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

The Christmas Season

01/06/2022

We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays with family and friends! One thing we've started to do as a little family is celebrate the full season of Christmas according to the church calendar. So the first day of Christmas is December 25th, and it lasts for twelve days up until Epiphany, which is the day we celebrate the coming of the wise men. So during these twelve days we did lots of fun things! Some of the fun activities we did: Gingerbread houses Lots of Christmas crafts Cookie baking/decorating Indoor snowball fight with fake snowballs Botanical Gardens field trip Outdoor light display at our local zoo Lots and lots of Christmas books and movies A little fun playing in the snow!   To top it off, the kids left out grass on the night before Epiphany for the wise men's camels, and the wise men left them some art and craft supplies for a gift in the morning. :)

Walking Through Loss, Remaining Steadfast

10/09/2021

Simply put, the past few months have been hard. After losing our son, Darcy, while I was 16 weeks pregnant, we unexpectedly got pregnant very quickly with our daughter, Liesl. Through all of the anxiety and fear, we didn't actually think something so tragic would happen again. After all, I had three healthy pregnancies prior to Darcy. And then it did. Just like that, we had another second trimester loss, and lost our sweet girl - Liesl Caris. She was perfect in every way, and we miss her and her big brother terribly. We are unsure what the future holds in terms of another pregnancy, but we have always and will continue to remain steadfast on our adoption journey. It is a journey that we will remain on without wavering. We are home study ready (recently renewed), financially prepared, travel ready, and our hearts are open and waiting for the moment we are chosen as a family for your son or daughter. We are open to any race or gender, singleton or twins, 0-12 months. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Here are some pictures to honor the sweet babies we recently lost.

Ups and Downs

06/19/2021

The past few months have been a whirlwind. It's been full of some ups and some really hard downs. Earlier this year we found out we were pregnant with another baby. We have remained active in our adoption pursuit and looked forward to knowing we would at least be a family of five. During this time we also received placement of our foster son whom we had from 6 weeks until just over 5 months old. He is now with a family friend, and we are preparing to close the door on our fostering journey. About 6 weeks ago we found out the baby I was carrying was a boy. We named him Darcy Stephen and shared his name with family and friends, something we had not previously done in the past until birth. He seemed perfect and aside from severe nausea, the pregnancy was going well. We then found out one week after we last saw him moving around on the ultrasound that his heart had stopped beating. I was induced and delivered him at 16 weeks. He was every bit of perfect, and we were heartbroken by his loss. We had his funeral two weeks ago with family...

Valentine's, Ballet, & Living Room Fun

02/12/2021

This week we've spent some time working on valentines to hand out to gymnastics friends, ballet friends, and nursing home residents. The kids have done such a good job making some cute valentines that will hopefully bring others some joy. :) We also have spent a lot of time jumping and climbing around in the living room on the kids' play couch. Atlas, our dog, likes to be near us as well. He normally isn't allowed on the couches, but I made an exception for some extra snuggles today.

Finally some snow!

02/06/2021

Just about a week ago we finally got our first big snowfall of the year. We had right around 10 inches with more than came a couple other times this past week. The kids had so much fun building a snowman, making snow angels, having daddy pull them around in a sled, and of course eating the snow. While sometimes the cold grey winters can drag on, we do love the change of seasons and getting to experience all of them. Our kids love it too. Here are a few pictures from our snow fun the past week!
